Bently‑Nevada 3500/92‑02‑01‑00 Communication Gateway Assembly (136180‑01 Main Board + 133323‑01 Rear RS485 I/O Module)
Product Description
The 3500/92‑02‑01‑00 is a full‑height rack‑mounted communication gateway assembly for Bently‑Nevada 3500 machinery‑protection rack. The assembly includes front‑side gateway CPU main board 136180‑01 and rear‑mount 133323‑01 Modbus RS485 serial I/O daughter‑board本特利.
This gateway collects real‑time measured values, channel status, alarm events and diagnostic information from all monitor modules across the 3500 rack via internal backplane bus. It converts rack‑internal data into standard industrial protocols for external host systems. The 133323‑01 rear I/O provides isolated RS485 serial physical interface for Modbus‑RTU communication. The onboard Ethernet port (10BASE‑T RJ45) supports Modbus/TCP and proprietary Bently‑Nevada host protocol for configuration software connection.
3500/92 is a data‑acquisition communication device only; it does not participate in machinery protection voting or trip logic. Communication failures will not affect hard‑wired protection functions of monitor and relay modules. OEM manufacturing is discontinued; supplied exclusively as aftermarket replacement spare for legacy turbomachinery TSI systems。

Order code breakdown for 3500/92‑02‑01‑00:
- Position‑1(02): Rear I/O = Modbus module (133323‑01)
- Position‑2(01): Low‑speed memory variant
- Position‑3(00): No agency safety certification option本特利
Key Features & Benefits
- Dual‑media multi‑protocol data gateway: Combines 10 Mbps Ethernet (Modbus/TCP) and isolated serial (Modbus‑RTU) interfaces; supports connection to legacy DCS / PLC / SCADA via long‑distance multi‑drop bus, and modern TCP/IP plant networks simultaneously.
- Custom configurable Modbus register mapping: Users select required measurement points, alarm status and diagnostic tags; arrange Modbus register layout without extra external conversion hardware. Eliminates unused register overhead and optimizes host‑system data reading efficiencyBaker Hugh….
- : 133323‑01 rear I/O provides electrical isolation for field serial bus, suppresses ground‑loop noise and improves anti‑interference performance in heavy‑EMI turbomachinery control‑cabinet environments. Field wiring connects directly to built‑in screw terminals.
- Non‑intrusive to machinery protection: Gateway operates independently of protection voting logic. Loss of Ethernet or communication will not interfere with monitor‑channel alarm, relay‑output or trip functions, ensuring machinery‑protection safety integrity.
- Flexible rack deployment: Multiple 3500/92 gateway assemblies can be installed within one single 3500 rack, enabling separate data publishing toward different plant host‑systems.
- Drop‑in backward‑compatibility: Compatible with all legacy 3500‑series monitor modules, power supplies and rack firmware. Rear‑side 133323‑01 I/O supports hot‑swap replacement; front‑side 136180‑01 main board requires slot‑power removal for replacement.
Application Fields
- Petrochemical refineries, natural‑gas processing plants and power‑generation facilities: provides vibration, thrust‑position, speed, bearing‑temperature and alarm‑status data from steam‑turbine, gas‑turbine and centrifugal‑compressor 3500‑TSI racks to DCS, PLC and plant historian systems over Modbus‑RTU or Modbus/TCP networks.
- Industrial sites with existing legacy serial‑based control systems requiring Modbus‑RTU multi‑drop bus connection for rotating‑machinery condition‑monitoring data acquisition.
- Spare‑part replacement and retrofit for legacy 3500 racks originally equipped with 3500/92‑02‑01‑00 ‑variant communication gateway assemblies.

Installation and Maintenance
Installation
- Assemble 136180‑01 front main board firmly mated with 133323‑01 rear I/O daughter‑board; insert complete gateway assembly into any free full‑height slot of 3500 rack.
- Wire field bus cables to screw terminals of rear‑side 133323‑01 module, follow bus topology rules; install bus termination resistor at physical far‑end of multi‑drop serial network. Connect Ethernet cable to front‑panel RJ45 port as required.
- Launch 3500 Rack Configuration Software, open gateway configuration page; select required measurement parameters, alarm status and diagnostic signals, configure custom Modbus register mapping, set Modbus‑RTU station address, baud‑rate, parity and stop‑bit parameters. Download configuration to rack.
- Apply rack power; verify front‑panel OK‑LED status healthy. Check rack event‑log for gateway‑health, backplane‑communication, Ethernet‑link and serial‑bus‑fault alarms. Validate Modbus data reading from DCS/PLC host side.
Important Note: Only rear‑side 133323‑01 I/O supports hot‑swap while rack powered‑on. Front‑side 136180‑01 CPU main‑board must be installed or removed with corresponding rack‑slot power disabled. This gateway does not perform any machinery‑protection voting or trip logic.
Maintenance
- Perform periodic visual inspection: inspect rear‑module screw terminals, front‑panel RJ45 Ethernet port and connectors for dust accumulation, corrosion and loose wiring connections.
- Regularly review rack event‑log for gateway fault, backplane‑communication fault, Ethernet‑link‑down or serial‑bus‑error diagnostics. Troubleshoot host‑system network / serial‑bus infrastructure upon communication dropout.
- For rear‑I/O serial‑interface fault: hot‑swap 133323‑01 under rack powered‑on; verify ‑bus communication and Modbus‑data reading function after replacement.
- For main‑board gateway fault: power‑down assigned rack‑slot before removing 136180‑01 CPU board; reassemble with matched rear‑I/O module, download rack‑gateway configuration and validate full‑function recovery.
- Avoid mechanical shock and conductive contamination during module‑handling. Refer to official Bently‑Nevada document 138629‑01 (3500/92 Gateway Manual) for complete installation constraints and detailed troubleshooting guidanceAlibaba.
