Description

V7768-320000 6U VME64x Single Board Computer, Intel Core2 Duo

Product Application

V7768-320000 belongs to the VMIVME VME SBC family. It is the host CPU for VME bus based real-time embedded control systems, most commonly found in older power generation turbine control racks. It executes real-time control application, communicates over VMEbus to VMIVME I/O cards, and uses front-panel Ethernet ports to exchange data with operator HMI and DCS. Supported OS: VxWorks, Linux.

Installation Guidelines

  1. Power off VME chassis, insert V7768-320000 into target VME slot and secure front panel screws.
  2. Install CompactFlash preloaded with real-time OS and turbine control application.
  3. Connect front panel Ethernet, serial or VGA cables as required.
  4. Power on chassis, enter BIOS to configure boot order and system parameters.
  5. Boot real-time OS, load VME driver and scan all VMIVME I/O modules on backplane.
  6. Assign IP addresses for dual Ethernet ports and test communication to HMI/DCS.
  7. Execute VME bus read/write test with all VMIVME I/O boards.
  8. Verify watchdog timer function before putting the system online.

Maintenance Instructions

Daily Maintenance Check board power and status LEDs; monitor system health and network alarms from HMI.

Periodic Maintenance (Every 6–12 months) Clean chassis air filter and PCB dust. Check RTC battery voltage, replace battery if low. Backup OS image and application program. Inspect backplane connector pins.

Fault Maintenance

  • System fails to boot: Check CompactFlash integrity, VME rack power supply and BIOS settings.
  • VME bus communication failure: Inspect backplane connection, VME address mapping and driver.
  • Network port down: Check cable, negotiation settings, switch port, use second GbE port for backup test.
  • Do not modify BIOS or turbine control application without turbine control engineer approval.

Long-Term Operation Tips Keep chassis operating temperature 0~55°C. Store spare V7768-320000 in dry, anti-static environment. Keep full OS and application backup image.
